  • HSE strategy: Define and implement a HSE strategy aligned with the overall operational and environmental strategy and related business goals for BU Frozen.
  • HSE Management system: Develop and maintain a robust HSE Management System with clear global policies and standards across all production sites and the supply chain, with relevant lagging and leading KPIs and targets, ensuring HSE is integrated into business performance frameworks and audits. Partner with central and site leadership to provide HSE insight and updates. Making sure we embed a “safety and sustainability by design” mindset across functions supported by the right processes and tools.
  • Compliance & Risk Management Ensure full compliance with international, regional, and local HSE laws and regulations. Maintain and improve certifications and systems (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001, OSHA). Lead robust risk assessments, audits, and inspections, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented and supported to the sites. Establish governance mechanisms for incident escalation, investigation, and reporting.
  • Health & Safety Program Oversight: Promote a zero-incident and injury-free workplace. Build capability and accountability in frontline safety ownership. Champion behavioral safety programs and safety leadership initiatives. Analyze H&S data and trends to identify key risks and lead proactive improvements.
  • Support integration of HSE in capital projects, M&A, and new site developments
  • Environmental Responsibility Set and oversee delivery of the company’s sustainability/environmental roadmap, including reduction of emissions, energy, waste, and water use in close collaboration with the technical and operational department. Monitor and report performance against corporate ESG (environmental, social, and governance) goals. Drive sustainable practices in manufacturing and logistics operations. Engage with stakeholders on environmental compliance and innovation.
  • Leadership, Capability & Culture: lead a high-performing global HSE community, fostering knowledge-sharing and consistency across sites. Create engaging training, coaching, and leadership development programs for safety and environmental practices. Champion a safety-first culture that empowers employees and values proactive behaviors. Influence senior stakeholders through a clear HSE strategy and roadmap, strong communication, credibility, and presence. Partner closely with Operations, Supply chain, Engineering, Quality/Food Safety, Technical Services, HR, and ESG teams. Serve as HSE representative in industry groups, regulatory forums, and customer-facing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with BU Fresh and BU Milling to get an aligned view on HSE strategy and practices

This role is ideal for a passionate leader in HSE management, who wants to lead initiatives that enhance HSE standards based on their criticality and business relevance in a fast growing and entrepreneurial organization.

  • Education: Master’s degree in engineering, occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in HSE leadership roles within a global, multi-site, manufacturing business. Operational, technical and/or food manufacturing experience can be a plus. Demonstrated experience in leading HSE programs. Experience in driving behavioral safety and culture transformation initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in HSE regulations, systems, and risk management across manufacturing and supply chain environments. Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and global EHS standards.
  • Understands fully the importance and impact of culture on safety, and is able to improve the culture in a formal and sustainable way
  • Skilled in incident investigation, RCA, data analytics, and reporting systems.
  • With shown ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficient in English, additional languages are a plus.
  • Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel (30% of the time) as needed to support operations globally.
  • Managing vision and strategy: Ability to set long-term vision and drive organization-wide HSE improvements that align with business objectives and needs.
  • Leadership & change management: Proven capability to inspire and lead teams through change, fostering a shared vision and ensuring accountability for results. Strong ability to engage, interact, influence and communicate with stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives, suppliers, and regulators.
  • Problem-Solving and risk management: Expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating HSE risks. Analytical and decisive thinker who can diagnose issues and implement effective solutions and simple processes within the operational and entrepreneurial landscape.
